Parish Meetings – Introduction

A Parish Meeting is one of the oldest forms of Direct Democracy and a distinct legal entity – not the same as a Parish Council even though it has many of the same powers. Parish Meetings are usual for villages with a population of less than 300 and all residents of the parish are encouraged to attend the two mandated meetings per year (one of which must always take place between March 1st and June 5th.
